Barry Allan


Barry Allan is the founding partner of Marret Asset Management Inc.  He has over 30 years of investment experience and has successfully operated in virtually all areas of the fixed income arena.

Prior to founding Marret, Barry spent 6 years with Altamira Management where he managed a wide variety of fixed income mandates and held secondary responsibilities on several equity and balanced mandates.  He was also responsible for internal risk management and oversaw the hedging activities for the company’s Balance Sheet.

During this period he was the lead manager of the Altamira High Yield Bond Fund, co-manager of the Balanced and Growth and Income Funds, and Lead Manager of the Global Bond and Global Short-Term Income Funds.

Barry also managed several institutional mandates with alternative investment strategies (swing funds shifting between Canadian and Global bonds, Hedge Fund being long and short Global Bonds and Currencies, Commodity Derivatives in equity portfolios, bonds with embedded options to gain convexity).

Barry has an undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Arizona.

Paul Sandhu


Paul Sandhu has 29 years of domestic and international fixed income experience.  Prior to joining Marret, Paul was responsible for the global distribution of Canadian fixed income and money market products at BMO Capital Markets.  Through offices in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, New York, London and Hong Kong, Paul was directly responsible for advising the world’s largest fixed income asset managers on portfolio strategy, asset mix, security selection and alpha/beta generation.

Paul's career also includes positions with Goldman Sachs and Citibank in Europe, the United States and Canada.

Paul holds a B.A. (Economics and Political Science) from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Victoria.

David Gluskin


David Gluskin has over 35 years of investment experience and has been on the leading edge of many developments in the fixed income markets in Canada.

David has been a successful innovator – being Canada's first ever strip bond trader (Nesbitt Thomson) and Canada’s first high yield bond trader (Goldman Sachs).

David's experience includes 10 years at Goldman Sachs, 11 years with Nesbitt Thomson and 7 years with AE Ames.

David has an undergraduate degree and 2 graduate degrees, all from the University of Toronto.

Adrian Prenc


Prior to joining Marret in July 2002, Adrian Prenc spent 3 years with Altamira Investment Services, initially as an investment specialist, and more recently as a Research Analyst specializing in corporate debt and high yield.

Adrian has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, is a CFA charterholder, and has received numerous awards for academic distinction.  He has also received his Financial Risk Manager® certification.

Dorothea Mell


Dorothea Mell has over 15 years of investment experience.

Prior to joining Marret, Dorothea oversaw the management of high yield assets at Altamira.  She joined Altamira in 1998 as a high yield analyst, and in 2000 became lead manager of the Altamira High Yield Bond Fund and co-manager of the Growth and Income Fund.

Prior to joining Altamira, Dorothea was Manager of Private Placements at the Canadian Corporate Investment Office of MetLife, where she was involved in the structuring, analysis, and investment of privately placed debt securities.  She joined MetLife in 1993 as an Investment Analyst.

Dorothea has a BA in Economics, an MBA from McMaster University, and is a CFA charterholder.

Gordon McKay


Prior to joining Marret as a research analyst in June 2009, Gordon McKay spent over 3 years as a research analyst at the Edmonton office of Peritus I Asset Management, a Santa Barbara based investment manager specializing in high yield corporate debt securities.

Prior to joining Peritus, Gordon worked as a valuation consultant for McNally Valuations, a boutique valuation services firm.  At McNally Valuations, Gordon completed research and analysis, and assisted in the preparation of fairness opinions, goodwill impairment tests and valuation reports.  He began working at McNally Valuations in 2002.

Gordon has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, is a Chartered Business Valuator, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Randy Steuart


Randy Steuart joined Marret as a research analyst in June 2007 after graduating from the UBC Sauder School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in finance.

Randy is a Leslie Wong Fellow, having participated in the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation where he learned business and security valuation fundamentals from both an academic and professional perspective.  In addition to responsibilities as a Fund Manager in the program, the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation sponsored two internships, where Randy generated investment research at institutional investment managers in Toronto and Victoria.

Eric Busslinger


Prior to joining Marret as a research analyst in March 2010, Eric Busslinger spent the previous 3 years with RBC Capital Markets as a research associate covering the Oil and Gas industry.  Prior to investment research, Eric gained experience in investment banking and global equities through RBC Capital Markets' Generalist program.

Eric is a Leslie Wong Fellow of the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Finance from the University of British Columbia, and is a CFA charterholder.

Peter Lakomy


Peter Lakomy joined Marret as a quantitative analyst in June 2008 after starting his final co-op work term with Marret in April 2007.  Prior to joining Marret, Peter worked in the Commodities department at George Weston Limited where he modeled and applied hedging strategies on various commodities.

Peter performs cross-asset class regression to identify capital structure arbitrage opportunities.  He supports the research team by combining the team’s fundamental company research with current pricing in capital markets to identify relative value via security selection.

Peter has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo, specializing in Finance.
